Bunch of kids stuff, Long Beach, Raymond, Ilwaco, Wa.

Yesterday I got to do one of my favorite things, spend the day taking pictures with my best friend. Nat tagged along as I worked four assignments, all school-based. Our favorite was the Boys and Girls club formal dance for 4th, 5th and 6th-graders.

Following that I made a stop over at the WellSpring community carnival only to find that it was wrapping up. Lucky for me the light was great as people started flowing out to the parking lot.

At the Long Beach School science fair we got to see many fun and unusual things, like a machine that made gas-filled bubbles from dry ice that when popped made small clouds of steamy smoke.

And with recent wet weather, the Naselle baseball game I had planned to attend was moved back a day to Friday so that the field could dry up more, so instead it was off to Raymond to catch the Naselle track and field team. Judging by the weather yesterday, and then today, they probably should've kept the original date...

Active shooter drill, Naselle High School, Naselle, Wa.

Thursday I photographed an active shooter drill at NHS, a testing scenario for law enforcement officers to prepare for the worst — a shooter in a school building. With the help of some very loud student volunteers in some very realistic make-up, the cops swarmed through the halls and classrooms searching for the shooter while ignoring the students cries for help.

Dirty Old Town, pt. 4, Longview, Wa.

From my most recent wanderings through my home away from home, Longview, part of my continuing series, Dirty Old Town. My hope is that the results of my exploring will comprise a book on that area by the end of the year.

For those interested in such things, this post, and all others in this series, are shot using either a Fuji X100 or an iPhone 4s
